Antique Balinese Bridal Chest
Bridal benches were used in traditional Balinese wedding ceremonies to hold the Eastern equivalent of a young bride’s dowery. Hand-made by the bride’s family, they are an important part of the wedded couple’s life story and as such are made with loving craftmanship. Much of this chest’s original emerald green paint has faded to a lovely aquamarine patina on the intricately carved walls.
