For this project in rural Blairstown, New Jersey, we transformed an architecturally significant horse farm into a zen retreat honoring both the Frank Lloyd Wright-esque structure and its rustic setting. The existing Mission-style furniture and color scheme were at odds with the clean, mid-century architecture of the house and the clients’ desire for an uncomplicated, soothing interior. Steps were taken to ensure an effortless flow through the wide-open common space while creating a clear delineation for separate areas of function.
